I am proud to be serving in my second year as President of the ICF St. Louis Chapter.
I specialize in working with professional athletes, specifically hockey players, to maximize their playing careers, and, develop a game plan for life after hockey, so they can always compete with supreme confidence, now, and in their next venture.
I also coach coaches, primarily hockey coaches, to consistently get the best performance from their players by improving their leadership ability and presence.
After graduating from Amherst College, I went on to earn a law degree from Washington University School of Law and worked as an attorney for 25 years before discovering coaching. I completed my training and became a certified coach through the Coaches Training Institute. And now, for the first time, I can candidly say that I love what I do.

I am an executive and business leader coach. I’ve had the good fortune to present workshops, consult and coach individuals all over the United States as well as globally in the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East and Europe. My business expertise spans seven different industries, education and not for profit, so I’m able to bring a powerful mix of strategy, empathy and real-world insights to my client engagements.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with leaders at all levels, which includes executive and individual contributor coaching, intact leadership team development, as well as, succession planning and leadership program development and facilitation. Upon retiring from corporate life, I started Kouba Coaching, LLC.
As a coach, I help my clients surface their goals, then create and work an action plan that achieves their desired results – solving a business problem, handling a people issue, developing personal leadership, executive presence, transitioning into a new role or planning their career.
My doctorate is in Education - Higher Education Leadership from St. Louis University. And, I earned a graduate certificate in Executive and Professional Coaching from the University of Texas at Dallas. I’m certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC).

Many of her clients originally seek her out to become authentic, compelling speakers; frequently, they request inner voice coaching (self-talk transformation) in order to make the shifts in energy and consciousness that they desire. When requested, Nicki provides mentor coaching to coaches seeking their ACC or PCC certifications through the International Coach Federation.
This year’s president has earned two master’s degrees, sang professionally for years, taught for 12, and is the author of 15 books. She is a voracious learner---including loving to learn about our chapters’ members and the dreams they hold dear to their hearts.
In service as president in 2016, Nicki wishes to encourage, support, and hold a space for each member in our group to step into his/her greatness as a coach and human being. You may often see her encouragement written to our chapter ---“Live fully, coach greatly.”
