Creativity in Coaching: Helping your clients not only think outside the box, but to see beyond it!

This group presentation by Stuart Morse, Jasmine Raskas, and C Paul Diem will explain why creativity matters to the coaching process. Participants will have a chance to reflect on how they’re already using creative thinking within a coaching session and gain experience with new ways to bring creativity into a coaching session. This presentation includes active learning, participation, and the opportunity for brainstorming and discussion among coaches.

  • Learn how creative thinking relates to the goals and values of the coaching process
  • Understand how coaching is inherently a creative act
  • Gain knowledge and experience with creative tools that can be used with clients in a coaching session.

This session will reinforce how coaching is naturally a creative process. Participants will learn how the process of being creative relates to being coached. Clients face the same type of limiting beliefs in being creative as they do in meeting any kind of goal. Learn about the scope of thinking creatively as it relates to the anatomy of the brain and aspects of the human mind. This understanding can help coaches better communicate, brainstorm and vision with their clients.

Coaches will be guided in breakout sessions to brainstorm how both their clients and themselves are already tapping into creativity during the coaching process. This presentation includes several examples of creative strategies that can be used with clients such as drawing, storytelling, visualization, brainstorming, pictures, symbols, humor, and improvisation. A culminating creative challenge will give participants the chance to test out what they learned during the presentation.
