Updated ICF Core Coaching Competencies

Every three years ICF reviews the Core Coaching Competencies. Since October 2017, ICF has engaged in rigorous job analysis research. From start to finish, more than 1,300 coaches—both ICF Members and non-members—from around the globe have participated in this process. These coaches represented a diverse range of coaching disciplines, training backgrounds, coaching styles, and experience and credentialing levels. The outcome of this important research and review is an updated set of core coaching competencies, which will go into effect in January 2021. The original 11 core competencies have been reduced to 8.

Please join this interactive session where you will:

• Deepen your understanding of the updated eight core competencies and their more detailed behavioral descriptors
• Use the behavioral descriptors in the updated competencies to observe and evaluate your coaching interactions
• Increase your ability to employ the core competencies and coach with more focus and purpose.
• Understand the roll-out timing of the updated competencies and the effect that may have on new coaches applying for accreditation prior to 2021 and after or if you are seeking a new accreditation level after the implementation of the updated competencies in 2021.

Meet Dr. Nadine Kouba

Dr. Nadine Kouba, ACC is a trained and certified executive and business leader coach, who brings extensive business expertise spanning seven different industries, education, government and not for profit. Nadine brings a powerful mix of strategy, empathy and real-world insights to her client engagements where she works with her clients to increase their effectiveness and accelerate their business.

Her passion is to add value whether she is coaching or consulting. Throughout her career, Dr. Kouba has worked with leaders at all levels. Her experience includes executive and individual contributor coaching, intact leadership team development, as well as, talent management, succession planning and leadership program development and facilitation.

Nadine earned a Ph.D. in Education - Higher Education Leadership from St. Louis University and is also a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas Executive and Professional Coaching program. She is certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC). And, she is the 2020-2021 President of ICF St. Louis Chapter.
